I go to Shanghai several times a year, the hotel industry booms like a flower bud, new ones here and there and of course I get to stay at different hotels every trip. Aside from the 5 star luxury hotels such as the Park Hyatt, Peninsula, Peace Hotel, Langham or Wardorf Astoria, I also tried several smaller scale boutique hotels such as the Puli, Urbn, Mansion, Jia, 88 Sin Tien Dii or the Water House. All of these hotels are unique in their own but I found my heart in this hidden gem off the very busy Hwa Shan Road: Le Sun Chine! The location is exactly to my liking, a secret tucked in a quiet corner waiting to be unfold.

It’s the former residence of a flour tycoon Mr. Sung and the house dates back to 1930’s. The entire ambiance goes back in time soaked in Art Deco. The hotel has less than 20 rooms, each room has the address of an old street name in Shanghai, there are 4 color themes for the rooms, red, blue, gold and beige, each room is unique in a nostalgic setting!
