Tromso is often referred to as the capital of the Arctic and serves as the starting point for many Arctic expeditions. Tromso enjoys midnight sun from May 18 to July 26. During this period, the sun is always above the horizon and the city is warmer than most other places located on the same latitude due to the warming effect of the Gulf Stream.
